Revitalising Community Spaces

Buxton Building Contractors are thrilled to announce our recent appointment as the principal contractor for two significant projects in collaboration with Hastings Commons Neighbourhood Ventures. Our focus will be on the refurbishment and renovation of two key properties, 12 Claremont and Eagle House, transforming them into vibrant community spaces.

12 Claremont: A Creative Hub for the Community

Our work at 12 Claremont, which has just started on site, aims to breathe new life into this historic building. Once a hub of local industry and community activity, 12 Claremont will soon become an inclusive creative centre. This project will see the establishment of a gallery managed by Project Art Works, artist workspaces overseen by Hastings Art School, and an international hosting and learning centre. These spaces will foster learning and collaboration on commoning, community-led regeneration, and inclusive arts practices, enriching the local and global community alike.

Eagle House: Expanding Community and Youth Spaces

Eagle House, acquired under a development lease by Hastings Commons, is already home to 'The Common Room' - a unique space where individuals from all walks of life can come together. Our renovation efforts will extend beyond this, enhancing the building to offer additional community, youth, and affordable workspace. This historic building's transformation will further support the diverse activities and interactions that The Common Room already facilitates.

A Commitment to Community-Led Regeneration

Our partnership with Hastings Commons Neighbourhood Ventures Ltd is more than just a construction project; it's a commitment to community-led regeneration. Hastings Commons has been at the forefront of transforming the centre of Hastings into a place shaped by its residents, offering affordable, vibrant spaces and homes. Their vision aligns with our ethos of taking on challenging projects to revitalise spaces for the common good.

Looking Forward

We are honoured to play a part in these projects that not only preserve the rich heritage of Hastings but also pave the way for a future where community spaces are accessible, inclusive, and vibrant. We look forward to the journey ahead and the positive impact these projects will have on the Hastings community.

Stay tuned for updates as we embark on these exciting ventures, shaping spaces and futures together.
