We are thrilled to announce that the Saltdean Lido restoration project, a significant undertaking by Buxton Building Contractors, has been shortlisted for the Regeneration and Retrofit Award for construction excellence. This was a very special but challenging project, requiring immense effort, careful planning, and precise execution.
The restoration, supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund and Historic England, has brought the 1930s icon back to life. Our work included restoring the Grade II* listed building and enhancing the site with modern facilities such as a poolside café, community rooms, and an art deco ballroom.
This project is now fully restored, actively used, and highly praised by all who visit. We are proud to see the positive impact our work has had on the community, including the Saltdean Lido CIC and the broader local community.
