NATIONAL APPRENTICE WEEK
I am currently in my second year at Buxton Building after enrolling onto the Quantity Surveying course in September 2022 and I am currently a Trainee Estimator. Since then, I have developed a great interest and understanding of the construction industry which is consistently growing. Working alongside studying my degree at Kingston University helps me enormously in terms of achieving high levels of understanding in my coursework and day to day tasks. I feel that being able to apply my knowledge in the workplace puts it into real life scenarios rather than just theoretically learning.
The apprenticeship has really opened my eyes up to the opportunities available as whilst I am developing my career in estimating, I am collaborating with surveyors, project managers and all those involved in the process from start to completion learning from their experience.
I have now been involved in many projects we have tendered for and by attending sites and producing bills for each one, it has showed me that not one construction project is the same which makes each one something I can learn from and gain experience.
Overall, I am so glad I took the route of apprenticeship and feel grateful to be on this career journey.
