Inspiring the Next Generation of Trades at The Grove, Carshalton

At Buxton Building Contractors we remain dedicated to social value and community engagement.

As part of our work at The Grove in Carshalton a project transforming a historic former rectory into 10 homes for Sutton Living we recently welcomed another group of students from the Sutton District Training Centre.

With training centres located next to The Grove contract site and in Rosehill we hosted a mix of Level 1 plumbing and general multi-trade students providing them with valuable firsthand experience of a live construction environment.

The feedback from students following their visit has been really positive. Every respondent noticed the progress made since their last trip in November and several said they enjoyed seeing how the site has developed.

Students found it interesting to learn about sustainable building methods like hemp walls and to understand how structural elements such as flitch and steel beams are used. Some also highlighted how helpful and friendly the team was on site.

We are especially pleased to see that all participants are looking forward to returning for future visits. It is clear these experiences are not only educational but enjoyable and memorable as well.

We will continue to schedule visits as the project progresses helping students gain a deeper understanding of the industry. Additionally mechanical works begin on-site soon and we plan to offer a placement for a Level 2 plumbing trainee.

By working closely with local organisations like Sutton District Training Centre we reinforce our commitment to creating lasting positive impacts in the communities where we operate.
