Commitment to Sustainability: A Year of Positive Change

At Buxton Building Contractors, we have made significant strides in sustainability from 01 August 2022 to 31 July 2023, achieving a total carbon footprint of 136,265 kgCO2e (136 tonnes CO2e) for scopes 1 and 2. When including scope 3 emissions, our total rises to 337 tonnes CO2e. We are wholeheartedly committed to reducing our environmental impact, with a focus on promoting energy efficiency and raising awareness among our employees. Notably, the emissions intensity per full-time equivalent (FTE) employee was 1.42 tCO2e for scopes 1 and 2, and 3.51 tCO2e when including scope 3, reflecting our commitment to transparency and improvement.

To further our green initiatives, we implemented a Summer of Sustainability campaign, engaging employees through surveys, events, and carbon footprint calculations. The establishment of a sustainability policy and the formation of a cross-departmental working group underscore our proactive approach. These efforts align with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol and BEIS Environmental Reporting Guidelines, ensuring robust and accurate carbon reporting. By fostering a culture of sustainability, Buxton Building Contractors is setting a strong example in the construction industry for reducing carbon footprints and enhancing environmental responsibility.
