Building Knowledge On Site: Mia’s Apprenticeship Journey

I am currently in my third year at Buxton’s after enrolling on the Quantity Surveying course in September 2022, and I am currently carrying out a six-month rotation on site.

Working on a live project has provided me with a hands-on opportunity to learn so much more about construction than I would have from university or the office. Seeing the project develop from start to completion has given me real-life experience and knowledge that I can apply to my future career.

Since starting my apprenticeship, my knowledge and understanding of the industry have developed greatly, and I feel confident in my choice of career path and the future opportunities provided to me.

Working alongside studying for my degree at Kingston University helps me enormously in terms of achieving high levels of understanding in my coursework and day-to-day tasks. I feel that being able to interact and work daily within the industry is extremely beneficial in supporting the learning provided at university.

My confidence in the industry has grown massively, and I am excited to continue developing my career in construction through the variety of experiences and opportunities available to me as an apprentice.
