We are delighted to have been awarded the contract for constructing the new Concert Hall/School Hall and Music department at Benenden School, Cranbrook. Benenden, a highly prestigious independent School founded in 1923 and situated in 250 acres of Kent countryside, is a leading boarding school for 550 girls. Previous students include The Princess Royal and Princess Basma of Jordan. The existing Hall, built in 1938, has been outgrown by the increase in pupil numbers over the years.
The new School Hall, designed by Guy Hollaway Architects, will seat up to 750 and will provide an extraordinary performance space for the School. The new Music School, attached by a link building, will support the main hall with a number of practice, rehearsal, percussion and song rooms along with a 150-seat Recital Hall opening onto a courtyard/amphitheatre.
The design team - including Guy Hollaway Architects, Synergy Construction & Property Consultants LLP, Campbell Reith Consulting Engineers and MLM Services Engineers - have been working closely with the School to build upon the strong legacy of new and old, high quality architecture that is already found across the School. The new Hall and Music School will add to the School’s portfolio of outstanding buildings.
