Battersea Dogs & Cats Home

Buxton are absolutely thrilled to have started work at the world famous Battersea Dogs & Cats Home.

The project comprises of the strip out, minor demolition and refurbishment of the existing arches 715 to 719 Keens Yard.

The works include:


  • A Reception area with a mezzanine floor leading to a small office and WC

  • A Hydrotherapy area consisting of an Hydrotherapy entrance, Plant Room, WC, Dog Shower area, Shower area, Store Room and the main Hydrotherapy area consisting of Main Pool, Dog Spa and Water Treadmill

  • Dog agility paddock

  • A Show Arena

  • Support Area with mezzanine floor comprising of Male and Female Changing Rooms/ Showers / WCs, Shop Store, First Aid Room, Accessible WC and Storage

  • External Façade works

  • External Water Play and paddock areas

  • Public Entrance

  • Retaining walls and perimeter fencing

  • Hard and soft landscape works

  • New car park area to provide Disabled and car parking spaces

  • Service ducts and interconnecting cable connections to existing buildings and electrical substation

  • The existing archways are brick built with newly formed concrete bases within each arch. The envelope is primarily brick work, curtain walling, windows and external doors.


Internally there are steel frames to form mezzanine floors to two of the arches, these will be infilled with timber joist and ply decking to form the floors with a staircase leading up. the partition walls are a mixture of both metal stud partitions with plasterboard finish and masonry cavity brickwork construction with boarded and suspended ceilings, lining, screeding, installation of Hydrotherapy pool and various hydrotherapy equipment, WC / Changing Room fit out to include IPS panels, vanity units, benching, GRP door-sets, joinery and furniture install, decorations and rubber flooring.


The MEP installation includes a new plant room fit out served by a number of air source heat pumps providing heating via a zoned underfloor heating system and radiators. Ventilation to the buildings is provided using both AHU, Fan Coil Units and natural ventilation system with local mechanical vents to toilet areas and specific rooms.


The electrical services include a full power and lighting install with fire alarm and detection systems, access control and CCTV, data, lightning protection.
