Buxton are delighted to have been appointed as the main contractor to undertake the works at 55 - 57 Great Portland Street for The Crown Estate
The scope of work entails extensive refurbishment, alterations and extensions to the Grade II Listed building
There will be a gastro pub/dining facility on the Basement, Ground floor and First floor with residential units constructed on the three floors above.
The building envelope, roof and chimney stacks are to be refurbished with access scaffolds required to the Great Portland Street and Mortimer Street elevations.
Further access scaffolds are required to the rear elevations commencing from the First floor upwards.
A temporary roof structure will be erected to maintain the weathering integrity of the building whilst the internal refurbishment works are undertaken.
Located in a busy part of London vehicle movement and deliveries to the site will require careful logistical and Health and Safety planning
Off-loading will be via Mortimer Street, a one-way road, with the need for a gantry, lifting beam/hoist for vertical distribution of materials.
We look forward to working closely with the Design team and the Client to successfully deliver this project.
